A
characteristic Italian farmhouse near the ancient university
town of Camerino (about 10 minutes’ drive) in Le Marche.
In the apartment the feel is of rustic elegance, integrating
modern conveniences with an essential simplicity. The floors
and ceilings are in traditional terracotta with exposed beams,
the walls are whitewashed to give a light and airy feel, and
the furnishings are simple and comfortable. This large, stone-built
farmhouse is divided into two apartments, one for the owners
and one for the guests with separate gardens, ensuring peace
and privacy.

| The
apartment is completely private and has
its own separate entrance. The accommodation is on two
floors. The ground floor comprises kitchen/dining-room,
living-room, bedroom (twin beds), and a ‘loggia’
for relaxing in, with balcony and sofa-bed. Stairs from
the living-room lead up to a double bedroom and the bathroom
(with shower). The living-room has a woodburning stove
for winter use or cooler evenings, while the upper floor
(bathroom, bedroom) has central heating. The
kitchen is well-equipped, and is provided with oven
and culinary basics. The kitchen leads directly out
on to a shady veranda with a table for eating al fresco.

John,
a graphic designer, and Kirsty, a writer and editor,
are the owners of the property; we live here with our
son Alessio, aged seven, who goes to the local school
and is enjoying growing up bilingual. We moved to Le
Marche from London in 1998 and have lived in this house
since early 2005, after spending a couple of years restoring
it. We are always happy to help guests with any queries.
Other members of the household include our dogs Teo
and Maxim, who are very popular with young guests; our
three cats Isaac, Blackie and Orsetta; and our beautiful
pony Marroncina. Our three ducks will provide you with
delicious fresh eggs.
